A paved road someone actually walks down.
Golden paths, paved roads, and internal tooling your team actually opens on a Monday. Measured in lead time, not in adoption slides.
What that actually means
Four commitments that decide whether a platform gets used or gets routed around.
One paved road, not four
A golden path is only golden if it is the shortest route. We delete the alternatives rather than documenting them, because a paved road that competes with three shortcuts is just a fourth shortcut.
Self-service that holds
Templates, provisioning, and environments a team can take without filing a ticket — with the guardrails compiled in, so self-service does not quietly become self-harm.
The SDK is the interface
Platforms are judged on their first afternoon. We build the client library, the local loop, and the error messages with the same care as the control plane behind them.
Lead time is the metric
Not adoption, not seats, not dashboards opened. If the time from commit to production has not moved, the platform has not worked, and we would rather find that out in month two than month twelve.
